Chillicothe City Schools celebrates Juneteenth: Freedom Day. In honor of the holiday, all CCSD buildings are closed for the day!

So much fun at the Pioneer School Football Camp! 🏈

The Chillicothe High School Class of 1954 had a beautiful bench dedication on June 1st, 2024. The Class of 1954 came together to fund the installation of the bench outside of Chillicothe Intermediate School. It was so nice to see members of this class convene, share memories, and celebrate this together. We are both honored and humbled that Chillicothe High School has left such a lasting impact on its students. This is what being a Cavalier is all about. 💙

Graduation was really something special! It is bittersweet to say farewell to the class of 2024. We are so excited to see all the amazing things this group of students will achieve as they move forward, but we will miss their presence throughout the halls of CHS. We are so thankful to the Chillicothe-Ross County Chamber of Commerce for inviting us to last night’s awards dinner! Being engaged in the community, and with families and individuals within, and outside of our district is very important to us. We were happy to get to connect with such a wide variety of businesspeople, community members, and more!

Today is Teacher Appreciation Day! We are SO thankful for each and every one of our teachers. Their impact on our students and community deserves to be honored and recognized everyday! Don't forget to thank your teachers!

Over the last few weeks, the CMS 7th grade band students had the opportunity to work on a very unique project, and today, they got to see their work come to life! COSI, the science museum in Columbus, is hosting the COSI Science Festival from May 1 - 4, 2024. As part of the festival, in the atrium just inside the museum, is a Star Wars fan-built exhibit titled The Intergalactic Fan Expo, presented by the TSJ Foundation. The exhibit highlights robotics and STEAM education through the display of Star Wars droids, holograms, 3D printing, coding, and even a tie fighter. As part of the exhibit, we collaborated to create the “Science of Sound,” a STEAM project where our band students learned about sound, learned how their instruments create sound, and designed their own instruments with some Star Wars flair. These instruments are now on display at COSI as part of this exhibit through tomorrow! Today, our students went to Columbus to see the exhibit and their instruments on display. They also got to interact with some of the Star Wars droids. A huge shoutout and thank you to Mr. Judson Burns, our CMS band director, for facilitating this project and opportunity for our 7th grade band students. You can see our CMS & CHS bands in their final concert of the year on Tuesday, May 14th at 7PM. You might even hear some Star Wars music!

Be sure to thank your lunchroom workers today!
